Content Management

Dynamic Content

Dynamic content is website content that is sourced from a content profile on Uniweb. Usually, this means a folder, but it can be any other profile you have created. Any dynamic content on a website will be updated live as the content profile is updated so there’s no need to republish your website for every small change you make.

Adding Dynamic Content to a Website

You can add dynamic content to a website through sections or pages.

Adding a dynamic section

  1. Navigate to the website editor.

  2. Click on the section you want to make dynamic or create a new one.

  3. At the top of the editor panel click

    .

  4. The wizard will guide you through setting up the rest of the dynamic content.

Adding a dynamic page

Adding a dynamic page follows a similar process.

  1. Navigate to the website editor.

  2. Click the

    and select Dynamic page.

  3. Follow the steps in the wizard to create your dynamic page.

Once your dynamic page is created, you can use the page as a source for multiple dynamic sections. For example, you can create a blog section and design a main page as well as a page template that will be automatically filled with article content.

Troubleshooting Issues with Dynamic Content

Dynamic content not showing up

If your dynamic content is not showing up after completing the wizard, there are a few things that may be happening.

Incorrect content selection:

If your dynamic content source is a folder, ensure you choose to select sub contents in the dynamic content wizard. If you use as final contents, the only thing that will be sent to the website will be the folder itself, not the content within the folder.

Unsupported section:

Depending on your component library, some sections may not support dynamic content. To check if this is the case, go to the last page of the dynamic content wizard and you’ll see the following message:

Warning The current section category does not support dynamic content. Fix the issue by changing the section category or switch to manual formatting.

If you have some technical ability you can use manual formatting and define which profile field maps to which element of the website, or talk to the component library creator if possible.

Alternatively, you can switch the section category to one that does support dynamic content. Some libraries may have two versions of some section categories: one that supports dynamic content and one that does not, so check the available categories and you should find one that works.

No content available:

If there is no content in the dynamic selection, nothing will appear on the page. Ensure that the linked profile has content in it, or the folder has your expected content included in the folder.

Dynamic content not displaying correctly

Section data mapping

It is up to individual Site Foundation Developers to configure the automatic data mapping for each component. If your content is not showing up as you expected, it is likely that the component you’re using wasn’t designed for that type of content.

You can check the documentation to see if there is any information for the specific component or reach out to the developer of the Site Foundation.

Incomplete dynamic content

If your content is not displaying correctly. Check your content, it may be missing some information especially if you’re working with a large amount of content.
